Platelet Rich Plasma

Injection Technique

There’s an exciting new technology gaining popularity in cosmetic medicine – Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)! Now, as a result of new guidelines from the BDDT-N, Ontario Naturopathic Doctors can join their colleagues and Medical Doctors across North America to bring this natural and safe treatment to their patients. For Ontario NDs no parenteral licence is required.

Modern technology allows us to concentrate platelets (Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP) and white blood cells from the patient’s blood (autologous therapy), and induce the growth factors’ release by injecting the solution directly into injured tissue. This simulates the same remarkable healing response but in a more directed form in a localized area. By enhancing the body's natural healing capacity, the treatment often leads to a more rapid, more efficient, and more thorough restoration of the tissue to a healthy state.

In dermatology and cosmetic medicine, PRP has been used for the treatment of acne, scaring, alopecia, especially in women, plus skin rejuvenation and tightening. The many benefits of PRP treatments for your patients are:

Tissue regeneration and rejuvenation
Increasing collagen production - which can increase skin thickness and overall skin health
Recruiting other cells to the site of injury
Inducing cell differentiation
Extra cellular matrix formation
Non – Allergenic - it’s the body’s own physiological product (autologous)

Join us for practical hands-on training and learn how bring this new, natural treatment of acne, alopecia, and skin rejuvenation to your patients. They’ll love the long lasting results!
